Knotts Berry Farm

8039 Beach Boulevard

Buena Park, California 90620

Knotts Berry Farm opened in 1940 as "Old West Ghost Town" near Walter Knotts' berry stand. Over the years, the park added more themed areas, changed its name to the current and moved to a pay-one-price scheme.

Rides and Pastimes...

Corkscrew (1975)

The original corkscrew roller coaster designed by Arrow Dynamics. It was removed from the park in 1989 (and moved to Silverwood Theme Park in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho) to make room for the new Boomerang.

Montezooma's Revenge (1978)

A steam-engine shuttle loop type coaster, lasting a little over a half minute. It accelerates to 55 miles per hour before entering a seventy six foot vertical loop, running to the top of a hundred forty eight foot tower, and then stopping and returning through the circuit.

Wacky Soap Box Racers (1980)

The only simultaneous running four-track coaster ride in the United States. The trains resemble that of a log flume, riding along single tracks, banking into turns as you race against others at thirty miles an hour. This is a variation of the old Steeplechase roller coaster at Coney Island, designed by Arrow Dynamics. This ride was removed to make room for the new Wind Jammer and Supreme Scream.

Boomerang (1990)

This small ride was designed by Vekoma International of The Netherlands. In its short circuit, it turns riders upside-down a total of six times at a top speed of fifty miles an hour, forwards and backwards.

WindJammer (1997)

This is a small racer with single vertical loops on each track.

Ghostrider (1998)

Knott's new woodie is it's first real coaster (in this author's opinion). Its 4533 feet of track towers 118 feet over Ghost Town. Riders can expect an initial 108 foot banked drop, 13 additional drops and a maximum gravitional force of 3.14 Gs. Brought to you by Custom Coasters Inc.
